Following a 10 year consulting career Andrew Jones founded the consulting firm Jones Andrews Industrial Relations and Human Resource IR & HR Consulting in 2006; with the mission of providing a unique, personalised service in reliable, innovative and practical employee relations and human resources solutions and strategies.
Director Profile:
Andrew commenced professional employment as a Solicitor with an Employee Relations Law Firm in 1996 before becoming an industrial relations consultant with the boutique firm Kamcorp Industrial Relations. Andrew became a director of Kamcorp and remained a director of that firm for 8 years, before leaving to commence Jones Andrews Industrial Relations and Human Resource Consulting in 2006.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Politics) Degree. Andrew was also a councilor with the city of Redcliffe for four years and chaired several committees including a state planning and development reference group in the property sector.
Andrew has extensive experience in all aspects of employment relations matters and combines this experience with a practical approach to the application of industrial relations and human resources. Examples of consulting work Andrew has completed for clients includes:
Advised, assisted, drafted, facilitated and negotiated Enterprise Agreements and Australian Workplace Agreements across Queensland, NSW, SA, WA, ACT and Victoria for clients across various industry sectors.
Created, drafted and trained clients in the following employee relation workshops; discrimination, harassment and bullying, employment conditions (legislation, awards, agreements, policy/procedure, contracts, custom and practice); disciplinary action and termination; counselling and coaching; enterprise bargaining; complaint investigation, analysis and drafting processes; performance management system implementation.
Appeared in both conciliations and arbitrations, in commissions and tribunals regarding unfair dismissals, discrimination and harassment complaints, dispute resolutions and appeal matters.
Managed the employee relations implications of the acquisition of a national food manufacturer by an international food manufacturer and of a manufacturing and engineering company by another in Victoria
Managed the employee relations implications of the outsourcing of the merchandising function of an international condiments manufacturer and the outsourcing of the warehousing and transport division of an international oils manufacturer
Facilitated an executive management review and complete management restructure across 7 sites in NSW and Victoria for a Registered Training Organisation.
Conducted numerous investigations into discrimination, harassment, bullying and general grievance complaints; including conducting complex investigations involving interviewing up to 12 witnesses and provision of documentation to satisfy company statutory obligations.
Drafted several complete company specific HR manuals for clients including common law contracts for each role, position descriptions for all roles, KPI determination; policy, procedure and associated forms manual, induction and exit packs and step by step guidelines for use of and implementation by managers.
Drafted and implemented employee relations strategy to address long-term and entrenched unacceptable workplace culture for an international energy provider. Over 12 months advised all staff of the new direction the organisation would be taking and how it aligned to the core values of the organisation. Conducted training for all managers, supervisors and employees in the performance management process and implications of failure to comply. Culture change successfully implemented.
Drafted strategy papers regarding; upcoming rounds of enterprise bargaining processes, outsourcing, performance management, acquisition, closure and restructure strategies.
